01 Dec North Jersey Mineralogical Society
The North Jersey Mineralogical Society is one of the Paterson Museum’s oldest partners. Founded in 1945, the Museum’s curator William C. Casperson served as the Society’s first chairperson. Later that year, Casperson was elected the Society’s first president. Since its founding, the relationship between the Society and the Museum has remained strong. The organization holds its monthly meetings at the Paterson Museum, which are usually held the 2nd Thursday of the month. Meetings, which include a social/sale hour and a lecture, are free and open to the public.
The Society is a charter member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies. As such, their goal is to bring people together to study and learn about the earth sciences and mineral collecting in Northern New Jersey.
