African Shore Museum

Founded in 2021, by The African Shore Community Development Corporation with assistance from Arts Reforming Communities, the goal of the African Shore Museum is to establish a special interest Museum. That museum will focus on (a) The Underground Railroad and slavery in Paterson and Greater areas, (b) The History and contributions of African Americans of Paterson, NJ and their impact on the Greater county, state, county and world, and (c) the historic, present and future connection and intersection of African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, Asians, Europeans, etc. to one another.

A young museum, the African Shore Museum currently exists virtually and as a pop-up exhibit at various events around the Greater Paterson area. The Paterson Museum happily provides resources, advice and shares exhibitions to further the mission of both organizations.
