Many of Paterson’s sons and daughters have served in the armed forces. During the American Civil War, 247 Patersonian’s gave their lives for the Union and are memorialized on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, located in Eastside Park. The completion of the Paterson Armory in 1896, further strengthened this city’s ties to the armed forces, as the Armory became the home of the 2nd Regiment of the New Jersey National Guard.
This exhibition highlights the military careers of several Patersonains and examines the realities of life after active service, as a veteran.
