In its heyday, Paterson was the home of three hospitals, Paterson General, St. Joseph’s and Barnert Memorial, which served the public from the Greater Paterson Community. In the same era, family-owned, pharmacies could be found in every neighborhood, dispensing remedies.
In this exhibition, visitors learn about the three hospital-run nursing schools in Paterson. Have a look in the cabinets at our historic pharmaceuticals and see which medicines have changed drastically and which remain the same today. Learn how Paterson pharmacist Frank Pinchak revolutionized medicinal safety by developing the first child safety posters, “Save Your Children, Keep Medicines Out of Reach.”
